Hide Instagram Reels on PC

If you use Instagram on a computer, you have probably noticed that Reels are everywhere: in the main menu, in your feed and across the Explore page. Instagram does not offer a setting to switch them off.
Here is how to get a calmer Instagram on desktop without giving it up.
What you can do inside Instagram
You can mute accounts, snooze suggested posts for a while, and mark content as not interesting. These help a little. They do not remove the Reels tab or the Explore page, and suggestions return over time.
What you probably want
Most people want to keep the useful parts of Instagram:
- Direct messages
- Posting
- The accounts they follow
and lose the parts that never end: Reels, Explore and suggested posts.
Hiding Reels with an extension
A browser extension can hide those areas in your browser. Feedbreak hides Reels, Explore and suggested posts on Instagram, and leaves messages, posting and your profile alone. It does this before the page appears, and shows a small label saying what is hidden.
- Peek shows a hidden area for 15 seconds.
- Show once reveals it for the current visit.
- Always show keeps a creator you love visible.
If you run a page or a business
Creator mode in Pro hides the feeds but keeps your inbox, notifications, analytics and posting tools one click away, so work does not turn into scrolling.
Setting a gentle boundary
With Pro you can add an intention prompt (“Why are you opening Instagram?”) or a daily budget. The aim is not to ban Instagram. It is to make the time you spend there your choice.
A note on phones
A browser extension only works in your browser, so it covers Instagram on the web. Safari on iPhone is planned, but not available yet.
